I dabbled briefly with Linux, installing it on an IBM 1.7Gb drive. I reformated it for DOS after using FDISK /mbr to clear the boot sector. The drive seems to have formated well but will only boot sucessfully every 4th (approx) time. Scandisk tells me the two FATs are don't agree and there are lost clusters. It pretends to fix both problems but when I check again they are still there. I have fdisked and formated again twice but the problem remains. I have checked the drive with an IBM drive utility and a disk surface scan. Both come up 100% clean. Help please. |
