| 5207 | 2000-06-22 11:03:00 | Perhaps I did not make myself very clear at my last posting. I am aware that the SR-1a is the same as SR-1 but includes the Registry Repair Utlity. The Office Update website states, 'If you have already installed the SR-1 update and have not upgraded from Windows NT 4 to Windows 2000, you do not need this update. If you have upgraded from Windows NT 4 to Windows 2000 and have already installed the SR-1 update, you should only install the Office 2000/Windows 2000 Repair Utility. All other users should install the SR-1a update'. This friend of mine clean-installed the Windows 2000 and have not installed SR-1 before, therefore, based on the statement above, he should only install SR-1a, which he did, and all his office suite was messed up. I had thought about download the Registry Repair Utility for him, but I was afraid to do so. I have always believed that every updates released by Microsoft will certainly archieve the software improvements, but from this day onwards, I suggest everyone to think carefully twice before download and/or install the new updates. Thank you for your comment, Peter. (I have checked the article you mentioned before I made my previous posting) |
