| 5395 | 2000-07-08 10:13:00 | I have two computers at home - A relatively powerful Win2k system, with a 10/100Mbs network card, and a somewhat older (Pentium 120, 16mb) computer with a 10mbs network card. Now, I have them hooked-up via a rather long (50ft or so) cross-over cable (ie, no Hub). Really all I want to be able to do is file/print share, and internet connection share.. But, for some reason they don't seem to be seeing each other on the network (both cards seem to be installed correctly, but they do not register as being connected - The Win2k system reports that the cable is unplugged). Can anybody suggest what I may be overlooking / missing?? I may need to replace the older NIC (network card), which isn't a big deal, but if it's likely to not be the problem, then I'll still be in the same position... Thanks in advance, - Murray Fox |
