| 5443 | 2000-07-11 11:23:00 | I am having trouble playing music files on my computer (Pentium II 350) The CD player works fine but I am unable to play wav sounds or other music files on my computer. Under Multimedia Audio Devices I have an Audio for Soundblaster16 or AWE 32 or compatible. When I try to play Windows wav files in the Sounds Properties in Control Panel I get the error message: 'Cannot play the sound ...................wav. Your sound card may be in use' Cannot play back the audio stream, no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding When I try to play it using Mplayer2 I get the error message: MMSYSTEM320 All wave devices that can play files in this format are in use. Try again when a wave device is free When I try to play it using Winamp I get the error message: MMSYSTEM004 The specified device is already in use. Wait until it is free and then try again I don't understand how audio software works with the sound card and would like to be enlightened so I can hopefully solve my problem. Do different multimedia software programs cause conflicts with each other? If so what can I do about it? Any help is appreciated. |
