system =486 dx4-100,16mbram,ktx 33.6k data/fax modem.Problem =My neighbours computer wont dial isp(have checked settings with isp & every thing is ok)I have tried the modem in another computer & it works fine.When installing modem it gets detected on com 4,IRQ3,When i click 'more info button'in control panel,modems,I some times get a message saying the port is already open Or in use.I then click OK & it dislays the modem info,AT-commands,etc.What could be using this port?I have tried a borrowed modem which is con figured to use com2 IRQ3 & it dials up & connects to the ISP with no probs.The ktx was working ok & stopped dialing for no apparent reason,there has been no hardware changes that could affect it & in device manager there is no conflicts & nothing else is set to use IRQ3.The easy solution would be to set modem to use com2but that doesnt seem to be possible as jumper positions are not obvious & ive tried to map them out with no luck.Im not sure if maybe their kids have been into the bios & changed something.
