5452 2000-07-12 09:49:00 Hi
We have recently bought a new pentium 111 733, 128ram, 20gig HD computer, it has a TNT2 m64 card and creative PCI128 audio system. After i bought it everything was working fine until i tried to play half life and age of empires2. The games front ends start up fine but after you load a game it blue screens and says this: a Fatal Exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0006EB2 in VXD VMM(01)+00005EB2. it then chucks me back to desktop, or just freezes completely. now i have no idea what that means, the weird thing is, sometimes (like 1 out of 10 trys) the games run fine without any errors at all. Also, other games run perfectly well eg starcraft, I also tried the same games on a friends computer and they worked fine. I though it might be a directx problem so i checked the diagnosis program, it says my display drivers 'nvdisp.drv' is uncertified, and my sound driver 'SBPCI.VXD' is uncertified, could this be the problem? it is directX 7. I have tried looking on the internet but am unable to find certified drivers.
I have reformatted and the same thing happens when i try to run those 2 games. I am also getting sporadic 'ddhelp' errors, oh and once i got a 'VDCACHE' blue screen fatal exception.
Any input into this would be very much appreciated.
thanks! phew!
