| 1264956 | 2012-03-14 18:21:00 | Hi all, I need to document some stuff for work over the next few days, and I'm after some software that will allow me to hit a hotkey or something and it will take a screenshot. Similar to using Alt-Print Screen or whatever, but I don't then want to have to go and save the screenshot. I just want to hit the hotkey then continue what I was doing, then hit it again for another screenshot. I guess similar to how some games let you press F12 to take a screenshot during the game and it saves it in the background. Any suggestions? Cheers, Mike. |

| 1264958 | 2012-03-14 19:11:00 | I use Ashampoo-Snap-4 (www.ashampoo.com) -While its not free there is a free trial, you can set what ever hotkey you want. What you have to do is hit the hot key, then click the green tick, it also can do video capture. | wainuitech (129) | ||

| 1264962 | 2012-03-14 19:57:00 | I use Zscreen with Win7pro64. Yes, it captures to the clipboard but you can have it go to a folder at the same time. I once used Zscreen to make a video out of Powerpoint slides. Just hit the hotkey, next slide, hotkey, etc until I had 30 jpgs which I imported into a video editor and added a commentary I also used Zscreen to capture Streetview shots for posterity. (using Showmystreet mentioned in somebody's recent post - thanks... Cicero?) |

I use the free DuckCapture (www.ducklink.com) for screenshots. But if doing a lot of online collation of web elements/sites it might be better to use a curation/research management tool addon like Zotero. I did find ZScreen which seems to do what I want, but will try the others to see if there's a better one. By 'document some stuff' I mean I'm installing some new software and configuring a new server and I need to screenshot everything and document it so that if I get hit by a bus and someone else needs to do it then they'll have my instructions on how to do it :D Cheers, Mike. |
