| 1241217 | 2011-11-01 06:47:00 | Having just been through the disasterous death of my phone SIM card, and having to re-enter all my contacts manually (just over eleventy-seven gazillion) I got to thinking that you should be able to copy your SIM card in its entirety, and then just copy that back to your new SIM, as they do at the phone shop. Has anyone had any experience of doing this. There are some devices showing on Trademe but I would like to know if anyone else has been down this track. Cheers |

If your phone still works, and the phone's memory itself has the contacts. You could get the simcard replacement - put it in and copy all contacts to simcard. If you have also another simcard that have some of the contacts. Put that simard in - copy contacts to phone. Then swap to new sicmard - copy contacts to simcard. |

Most phones now it seems, store all the contacts on the SIM card so you just have to swap the SIM to the new phone. In my case, the SIM died and there where no contacts on the phone memory. "If" I had backed up my contacts to my PC I would have just been able to get a new IM and then copy the contacts back. Having a complete backed up SIM still appeals. Cheers HH |

I have a Nokia and a Samsung and I just plug them into my computer and transfer anything I wish. Contacts Sounds Pictures, virtually everything. Whilst I use a cable to connect I could use Bluetooth. I understand your despair as I once left my phone on the roof of my car and drove off. I saw it disappear in the rear view mirror but before I could stop and rescue it a couple of hoons lined it up and run over it. Then they hung out their respective windows laughing and making rude gestures. Im still looking for them! |

A quick google of "sim reader" showed many USB versions, first few results mentioned backup/restore features too. :) |
