| 1240911 | 2011-11-01 18:32:00 | STV is a form of preferential voting, which is probably the fairest system, it allows people to vote with both their heart and with their head, as far as their second preference is concerned, and more importantly it tends to kill safe seats, since very few candidates get 50% +1 votes. Anything that eliminates a majority of the safe seats is a good thing, because it kills the patronising arrogance of politicians stone dead. That's pretty much how I see it. :thumbs: However, I'm not counting on being around to see if its adopted and if it is, if it works. :lol: |

They are now calling each other liars and that is probably the only thing they have both got right. ;) But do many people actually realise the enormity of $1b? Let’s look at in real terms which I think I’ve got right but stand to be corrected. :blush: A Billion Seconds ago it was 1979 and a good percentage of this forum weren’t even born. A Billion Minutes ago Jesus was only just dead and England didn’t exist other than a land mass. A billion Hours ago was before the Stone Age. And here’s Goof and Key borrowing and spending 10’s of Billions $’s at the bat of an eyelid. I’ll tell you what, once there are no more assets to sell to pay the interest on the borrowing, let alone repayment of the principal, things will change around here as we'll be run by our creditors. Clearly the Politicians have lost the plot. |

From Google: The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but it takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in AD 927. However, it still puts a Billion Minutes into context doesn't it. :) |
