1264808 2012-03-15 04:06:00 I found the source of the problem, but I don't feel like sharing it; considering the responses I've had.If you ask questions that are incomplete, and not all the details provided, then come across with a bad attitude by making comments like "Could I have a response of a helpful nature this time " and the quoted (putting please on the end doesn't make any difference) then dont expect a helpful reply.

Every one here donates their time and skills to help others freely - just remember that.

1264810 2012-03-15 06:41:00 Sometimes though if the AV is causing a problem then uninstalling it can eliminate it or fix it. Anyone with any knowledge should know exactly what the suggestion was meant to achieve.

Two knowledgeable people both suggesting it and its not taken any notice of.

Doesn't matter anyway - obviously looking at post #9, I would suspect anything thats been suggested really wouldn't be tried unless it met with the ops approval

I am running 3 antivirus programs that scan incoming and outgoing traffic as well as Comodo Firewall,
That combination is a recipe for disaster at any time.

.

Dont think anyones going to lose any sleep over not knowing what the actual cause was :)

1264811 2012-03-15 07:24:00 I agree that running 3 AVs at once isn't a great idea but I don't really believe that running 3 AVs caused him to lose sound in only two applications.

Sure 3 AVs scanning real-time at once might lag his machine to death but from the fact that his original post stated: "Recently I have been getting no sound from Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox. " suggests to me that they weren't the cause, otherwise the sound would not have worked from day one.

Of course I may be wrong because I've never actually tried to run 3 AVs at once...

1264812 2012-03-15 08:01:00 Ive seen it done on customers computers-- they all managed to disable one another.

It gives a fair indication as to if you can really help the person or not though.
