1264656 2012-03-13 08:58:00 www.ascent.co.nz is another option, good brand I understand and one of corsairs manufacturers

Edit: the original Cooler master one you posted will work, and they do make ok PSUs. Just not up to the same standard as Corsair and seasonic, silverstone, and a few other good brands.
I often use cooler master in cheaper builds where the power rating isn't so critical and haven't had any grief with them other than the wattage been exaggerated.

1264657 2012-03-13 09:08:00 Well alot say they are modular but have like 23 plugs on the same plug. Eg. I needed one molex for my fan controler an the only ones there had 5 on the one cord. And annoying the cpu power cord wont reach if i rout it through the back of the case which makes it look kinda crappy. Slankydudl (16687)
1264658 2012-03-13 17:47:00 Have ordered the Corsair TXM650 from Computer Lounge for $169. Ascents price on a TXM550 is $189. Ascents price on a TXM650 is $214-95 and are out of stock until April 20th. The only drawback with me ordering from Computer Lounge and paying by credit card as a new customer is I have to go through a security check to verify it is me buying this. When there statement appears on my credit card account they put a security number with it. I have to email them back this security number before they will send me the power supply.

1264659 2012-03-13 18:20:00 Yeah that is kinda annoying. Slankydudl (16687)
1264660 2012-03-13 21:18:00 Why is it only barely passing for modular?

Only 2 cables unplug. Which basically makes no difference. Unlike say this: www.computerlounge.co.nz (No im not recommending it, and yes I acknowledge the price difference.)

1264661 2012-03-13 22:56:00 Yeah that is kinda annoying.
Rung up my bank to get the security number off the statement and they said there was none. Rang up Computer Lounge and more or less told them this was a load of b u l l s h i t, and that I would cancel my order and go else where. The person said that that was a bit harsh, so he confirmed who I was by looking me up in the phone book, and said that was ok, and I should have my power supply tomorrow.

1264662 2012-03-13 23:21:00 Yeah, I've been through the security number BS as well. The number does appear, but you have to wait a few days for the bank to properly process it and make it visible.

Given the low margins, I can understand them not wanting to ship hardware on a card transaction that may be fraudulent.

1264663 2012-03-14 00:07:00 I say good on them, you only have to do it once and after that you're fine. I think it's far too easy using the credit card most times online. If you lost your card and didn't notice for a day or two someone could rack up a ton of purchases on it. Even the Pizza guy doesn't usually bother to get a signature most times. dugimodo (138)
1264664 2012-03-14 00:38:00 Yes I can understand the reasoning, but I wonder how many first time customers they have lost with this process. I nearly cancelled my order when the email came about having to do this. I have been a first time customer at many places and have never had to go through this process. Been ordering things over the internet for about 10 years.

1264665 2012-03-14 00:48:00 Must be a new thing from them, I've used credit card and bank transfer in the past, never had any security checks. Best company I've ever dealt with. wratterus (105)
