1240918 2011-11-07 01:55:00 B.M. do you interpret a billion as a million million, or are you using the now universally accepted version of a thousand million?

 Well I was using 1000 Million.

Please don’t tell me the Politicians are talking a Million Million.

1240920 2011-11-07 02:52:00 more like 10 millions to make their figures sound/look good :) Zippity (58)
1240921 2011-11-07 03:12:00 Doesn't really matter how big your billions are - a politician's words issued pre-election have no value after the election.
Any tradition which is that firmly established is not likely to change until the country is over-run by 7th generation spotless leopards.

It does make a difference depending on which version of Billion you believe to be the truth.

1240925 2011-11-07 05:49:00 Yep, could have been better explained.

From Google: The area now called England was first inhabited by modern humans during the Upper Palaeolithic period, but it takes its name from the Angles, one of the Germanic tribes who settled during the 5th and 6th centuries. England became a unified state in AD 927.

However, it still puts a Billion Minutes into context doesn't it. :)
I seem to remember just recently that they found some remains that might throw the date England was first inhabited into doubt.
