I have a notbook to which I want to add CD write capabilities and extra storage. I was on the verge of buying an Adaptec SCSI CardBus card and a SCSI hard disk and CD writer, however, I have recently become aware of Firewire (1394) peripherals. I understand how SCSI adapters are inteligent and not only have a high speed peripheral bus but also take the load off the main CPU. How do Firewire adapters and peripherals work? Do you still get a reduced CPU loading like using SCSI? |
