5707 2000-08-03 12:47:00 It was time to defrag. my system so taking a tip from your July issue I did so after first rebooting into the 'safe mode'. I now find (coincidently?) that my display is somewhat more magnified than normal, with some desktop icons 'off-screen'. How do I restore the original settings?
(I am running Win98 on a PII 333 based sytem)

5708 2002-08-17 06:47:00 try going to control panely click display click settings and on the righ hand side see screen area you sound as if you have the more option on click or drag to the middle option which is normal rather that less see if that helps unity (212)

5710 2002-08-18 05:07:00 I hope Martin wasn’t sitting patiently by his PC, logging on every day in case someone might have answered his question of Aug 2000. There seems to be a continuing trend for people to answer ye olde postings and even caught out the famous Robo. ;-)

Am I correct in saying that if the Authors name is in italics then it is from ye olde help forum rather than the new gen PF1?

5711 2002-08-18 05:13:00 Yes, you are correct - it is a big give away on the age of the post :)

There were people busily replying to a post nearly 4 years old yesterday which I found quite entertaining :^O

5712 2002-08-18 05:32:00 I noticed that as well .

Silly Robo . He shouldn't get up so early . Or post when he isn't properly awake .

Incidentally, has anyone else noticed that certain people appear to be making a habit of dragging up old posts just lately? It makes me suspicious that they might be entertaining themselves in some way .

I can imagine how hard they laughed at catching Robo in their net .

5713 2002-08-18 05:40:00 I think in this threads' (hope my apostrophe is in the right place) case, the post was dragged up innocently. Unity has been having problems with her display moniter and she has obviously done a search looking for previous posts on the subject. She is new to the forum and is probably unaware of the do's and don'ts. Jen C (20)
5714 2002-08-18 06:03:00 Can understand that Jen, and certainly no disrespect to Unity. Just thought it was amusing that so many old postings appear to have been popping up lately. I'm sure I've answered one myself :-) parry (27)
5715 2002-08-18 06:10:00 Fair enough Jen, you are probably right . It's good of Unity to have a go at helping someone despite not realising it was such an old post . New people to the forum aren't to know that those posts are old if their thread map settings are off and they can't see the original date .

Other people are dragging up posts one or two months old though, just to add their piece even when the problem appears to be solved .

BTW Jen, you got your apostrophe in the wrong place . :D

Think of it like this:

How many threads are we talking about in this case? One . OK, put the apostrophe before the 's': "I think in this thread's case" .

If we were talking about two or more threads the apostrophe goes after the 's': "I think in these threads' case" .

Note that "this" became "these" because the number changed from singular to plural .

It's easy when you think of it like that . ;-)
