5691 2000-08-03 05:29:00 I have a compaq deskpro XE 560. It has 8mb of RAM built into the mother board. I was runnging it with win95 just using the built in 8mb of RAM. Latter after finding how crap 8mb was on the NET it put in four 4mb 72pin simms from my old computer. When it goes through the memory check it gets to 24576 kbytes ok. Then this error comes up and it goes back to 8576 kbytes ok '00840000 00 SIMM memory Expansion slot D 203- memory address error.' it then comes up press F1 to boot then when i do it loads up win95 as usual. When i check in windows under system it says 24 mb of ram. Any help would be appreciated Guest (0)

If anyone found a solution for this problem, I would like to know how I have exactly the same problem with my 560 XE. I have been looking all over the internet for a solution?

Kind regards Geert

5693 2005-01-23 20:44:00 Possibly wrong type of RAM? or perhaps there is an option in the bios that needs to be set to allow more than 4mb of RAM. I have seen this on very old computers before Agent_24 (57)
5694 2005-01-26 01:59:00 These machines have a maximum of 136mb RAM (ie an extra 128mb of RAM)

Legend still make this stuff, but its not cheap.
I know they can do 32mb or 64mb pieces.

I got a 32mb piece, and it cost me $169 at Harvey Norman.

It is much cheaper to get a new machine.

don't know if I helped - good luck

5695 2005-01-26 02:50:00 Try going into the BIOS setup. (F10?) It will probably recognise the extra memory. If so, do a "Save and Exit". It might just be complaining that it hasn't been officially told that the memory has been added. ;)

Of course, there might actually be a memory error. ;)
