5769 2000-08-08 05:49:00 I recently reformatted my hard drive and began reinstalling software only to find that i had no record of my windows 98 product key number. My vendor is unable to assist. i registered my software online at purchase time but the woman i talked to at the microsoft helpdesk claims they do not keep a record of product key numbers. Where can i go now to find out my product key or do i have to pay for a new one? Guest (0)

5771 2005-03-13 19:16:00 since win 98 doesn't have any activation procedures it shouldn't be hard to get it up and running. Agent_24 (57)

Welcome to PressF1!
Can I ask you start this as a new thread and you actually ask the question yourself, rather than dragging up this one which is nearly 5 years old.
What's with the massive list of line-breaks?

Cheers

5774 2005-03-13 20:29:00 johnboy, if he has reformatted, there is no way the programs can recover the key from the HDD .

That will only work if there is a version of Windows installed, and for which the key has been used . Until it has been used, it does not exist . It cannot be found .

5775 2005-03-14 03:28:00 Try this key code:

**REMOVED**

Lost mine some time ago, hope it is correct sequence, it actually brought back my proper key no.
