| 5819 | 2000-08-10 09:51:00 | My system has suddenly developed an annoying little glitch with the mouse pointer, which I just can't seem to get rid of. The pointer keeps changing from the normal 'arrow', into the 'hour-glass', and back again, every few seconds (even when the system supposedly isn't busy). The arrow is active for about 2 seconds, then the hour-glass for another 2 seconds, then the pointer again... and so it goes on. Whatever it is, I just can't get rid of it. I re-installed the mouse driver software - no joy. I tried doing a basic re-installation of Windows 98 (SE), which also didn't work. I then plugged in a spare mouse, in case my Logitech one was faulty - same problem. Lastly, I even tired re-installing Windows into a new directory - which, of course, means that I now have to re-install all of my app's. I would have thought that creating a new Registry would have cleaned it out, but... no. I religiously check all downloaded files for viruses, and keep my anti-virus software up-to-date. That's not to say that something hasn't slipped through the cracks, of course. It's as if my computer is trying to process some information every two seconds, or something. Any ideas, clues, etc, would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Mike Vaney mvaney@paradise.net.nz |
