5940 2000-08-20 13:04:00 Struck a bit of a 'wall' here so I see if someone has the solution.
Riva TNT v3400 ripped out and Leadtek WinfastGTS2 installed in its place
yesterday.

System specs
Celeron 366 o/c @ 458
128 MB Sdram
Asus p2B m/b
Diamond sonic S/c

Installed the reference drivers from Leadtek 5.22's (I think) which locked
up during 3Dmark2000 benchmarking .so no result.3 attempts, 3 reboots

So, I try the drivers with GPL (in 3d mode) no problems.

TOCA2 no dice. . High speed / highly sensitive menu screen able to get part
of way through set-up and lock up at car selection screen.. Same story 3
times.

Cut a long (I'm sorry) stories shorter used Dets 5.33 and Dets 6.18 with
some improvement.

Managed to get some benchmarks in all other drivers.

The results ranged from 3200 out to 3500. Not spectacular I realise, since
my bottleneck is the CPU now, however I didn't expect software problems.

Ok, I don't really care too much about the benchmarks.. But I do care I
can't play my games.

GPL (Grand Prix Legends) runs fine in different resolutions so far and now i get nearer to a race
in Toca2.as far as selecting car and set-up and hitting key to start race. I
see the AI cars on the Grid and then freeze mode several attempts later and
no change .so I can recreate this problem at will.

warm / cold reboot no difference.

What I was wondering was whether I should change the AGP from 1x to 2x, I
ran a program called AGP info and it has 1x and 2x both ticked I don't know
what this means. Maybe I'm just too tired to think clearly now as I'm feel
I've overlooked something simple. Oh, btw. Vsync on or off no real
difference in 3Dmark2000 score.

That was yesterday trial..

Today really struck wall, I've exhausted everything I know changed things
like agp aperture

Size from 128 mb down to 32 mb .no difference of any note benchmarks vary
slightly.

So I cleaned out all traces of drivers and clean installed the 6.18's now
even GPl won't run for more than a lap without locking up, tried a new game
GP500 (was on special ) and this is a little different in it's actions from
when I start the game, screen goes all hazy in appearance then clears itself
as it loads up intro screen then the freeking game locks up at setup screen.

I never thought a card could cause me so much grief.
