Recently I have had two events which have caused me problems in closing down and restarting my PC. Whilst logging off a warning sign has appeared saying that I have performed an illegal operation and that my machine was to close down. This was subsequent to accessing Microsoft updates. The first time my PC restarted itself and advised that it was in 'safe' mode. It logged itself on twice in succession but would not shut down when requested instead re-logging on. After some hours it returned to normal. Yesterday same thing except that the screen froze and I had no option but to switch off at the mains. I am relatively new to this game but am getting a bit worried about the time and effort wasted trying to recover the situation. I have a Pentium 111,600 unit. Can any one assist. |
