1265772 2012-03-19 04:17:00 Is there a simple way to change OS without loosing data? And do you need drivers for CPU's? Thanks ChazTheGeek (16619)
1265773 2012-03-19 04:25:00 Never seen drivers for CPU's. Windows usually loads something for it. Depends what youre upgrading from. On whether you'll have to do a clean install. You may have to do a clean install, if you had an AMD then went to Intel. Or vice-versa. Because of the different chipsets / and drivers they use. Only easy way I know (without formatting). Do a dual boot / put it on another partition. If you've got one Speedy Gonzales (78)

1265778 2012-03-19 04:40:00 I do backup my PC every now and then with Norton Ghost and Cobian backup. So I only need to back up my software. Oh by the way, where is the registry actually located? ChazTheGeek (16619)
1265779 2012-03-19 04:41:00 XP home edition 32 BIT ChazTheGeek (16619)
1265780 2012-03-19 04:44:00 And what do you want to upgrade to? 32 or 64 bit? If 64 bit, you ll (probably) have to do a clean install. Since 64 bit cant use 32 bit drivers. And I dont think you can upgrade from 32 to 64 bit Speedy Gonzales (78)
