1265463 2012-03-17 03:34:00 Anyone point me in the right direction with this one?

Ok, I have my Desktop running XP Pro connected to Internet via Ethernet to Dynalink RTA1025w Modem/Router.

I also have my old ACER Aspire 3000 Laptop running XP Home connected to the Internet via Wireless to the said Dynalink Modem/Router.

There is a Canon MP250 printer connected to my Desktop via USB.

So far so good, everything working fine, but, I want to share the Printer with my Laptop.

Now I’ve done it before but I’m buggered if I can remember how.

Google so far hasn’t been my friend, but I’ve found nearly every scenario except what I’ve described above. :)

As I recall, when I had it setup earlier (months or years ago) the Desktop PC had to be turned on for the Laptop to see the printer. That doesn’t worry me.

There was also a little trick with turning on all the sharing on the Desktop PC. I don’t think you could just turn on the Printer Sharing there was other sharing as well that had to be turned on.

Anyway, any help appreciated :thanks

1265464 2012-03-17 04:07:00 You have to share the printer. And that should be it. Then search for / add the printer from the laptop. The workgroup for both may also have to be the same to find the printer. Once it installs the driver, you should be able to print to the printer from the laptop Speedy Gonzales (78)
1265465 2012-03-17 04:26:00 You share the printer, by right clicking and properties then share (?).
When I print, I need to browse the computer connected to the printer - insert login and password when required. Then I can send the print job. Not sure if you can set it up so to skip that step......

1265466 2012-03-17 04:33:00 control panel / printer and faxes / printer then right mouse / sharing option tab. If youre using Win7 disable password protected sharing. Or use simple file sharing if you use XP. Are you using XP, Win7 or other Nomad? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1265467 2012-03-17 04:37:00 Me - mixture. Computer with printer has XP. Everyone else has a version of Win7. Nomad (952)
1265468 2012-03-17 04:49:00 If Win7 has the printer, password protected sharing maybe enabled. Turn it off. And if Homegroup is enabled in all the WIn7 PC's leave it. Since XP doesnt support it. The password youre talking about maybe the homegroup password, if you use it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1265469 2012-03-17 04:56:00 Guy’s it’s XP Pro on the Desktop and XP Home on the Laptop. B.M. (505)
