Unless the question is along the lines of "how do i turn my pc on" (asking that online anywhere is silly), then there are no stupid questions. Let the man learn. ;)

If you feed them you will never get rid of them :D

1265908 2012-03-20 01:46:00 People come here to get help with issues they are having.

As far as I can see you might as well be formatting your posts like this

blah blah blah blah
Discuss.

But you have already confirmed what I knew, you are wasting our time.Only wasting your time. Others have contributed to the thread. Don't like, don't post

1265911 2012-03-20 02:01:00 i remember last year trying to change the time on one of the workstations, couldn't bloody do it till we had a technician in next. All for changing the bloody time. I realise this is done to stop me messing around with things. But if the machine was capable of updating itself for daylight savings I wouldn't have to worry about it. Which reminds me to book technician in again to change over again shortly
Can you not get it set to use a time server.

1265912 2012-03-20 02:05:00 That said, I saw a post from Linus on Google+ the other day, was interesting, about why you would need root permissions to change the timezone or networking. Sparked some interesting discussion with some people I know.
Then Matias asked why you even needed root to install software. Guess if you're installing the software in your home dir then it's a non-issue, but global / system-wide obviously needs permissions.
Linus created a lot of debate on the net about that and in many ways I agree with him.
As for Matias what an idiot. Maybe he should stick with an old version of Windows.

1265914 2012-03-20 02:08:00 Can you not get it set to use a time server. No idea, the machine is supplied by one of our machinery suppliers, it's running Solaris from memory. Their wont give us root access, not that I have pushed for it. Wouldnt know what to o with it anyway. plod (107)

That was the consensus we came to also.

I liked how he gave that dude grief about taking things personally, so the guy goes and takes things even more personal :p
