| 1242557 | 2011-11-09 00:23:00 | Hi one and all I am in the process of converting all my family VHS to DVD. I have a VCR--DVD combo player to get all the VHS onto DVD where it is saved as .vob files. That is step one on its way, and then step 2 is to edit these (.vob) files on my PC to chop out all the rubbish.(when I 1st got my camera back in 1983, if it moved, I video'd it. Hell there's some rubbish) I have had a look at threads on this and other forums, but would like to know of more recent experiences on what software people are using and the ease of which they have acheieved the results I am looking for. Womble MPEG Video Wizard and PowerDirector 10 Deluxe would seem to be good software. Has anyone used either of these. Any and all input gratefully received Chers HH |

| 1242559 | 2011-11-09 04:16:00 | Well I’ve stumbled down the same road myself and I’m loath to recommend any particular one. I’ve tried half a dozen and they all work sort of, but some have problem with sound and some get the sound, but it’s out of sync and on it goes. The worst part is the amount of time involved and it’s not good for the blood pressure when you find three hours later you have a lemon. :mad: But for what it’s worth, I found the best way was to go from VHS direct to Computer via an EasyCap adapter. HERE (http://easycap.co.uk/). Then at least I’ve got in on the computer where I can play with it before burning it to disk. Given that I’m an impatient prick who wants jobs done yesterday, cutting and editing Videos is a chore at best. And looking at the number to be done I should have at least one telegram from the Queen before I’m finished. ;) |

| 1242560 | 2011-11-09 05:39:00 | Whatever you do, don't convert the file to a non Interlaced format (mp4, avi etc...) as you'll loose frames and visual information. VideoRedo is pretty good, the full suite can author DVDs as well. But if you just want something to slice & dice, the basic version will do.
