| 1241660 | 2011-11-03 09:07:00 | A few years ago when video games with guitar controllers were all the rage I mentioned on this very forum that it would be a good idea if they taught actual guitar chords so that after playing the game you could then pick up a real instrument and play a simple ditty. This was implemented (poorly) in one of the later releases of rock band or guitar hero, I looked into it and said "not even close" Then Rocksmith was announced, It looked and sounded awesome, I turned and said to the wife "wife, I'm going to buy that the day it comes out" and lo, The game was released and the reviews were good, user feedback was excellent, the videos of people learning the guitar were promosing, So I took to the net to find a local seller, and Lo, no one in NZ has it. So, I went to amazon, and HUZZAH, they had the game plus electric guitar for $200, the day was saved, I placed my order. A week goes by, I'm out of town for work, The wife rings me, she says wtf is this box?, it better not be another television, I said no wife, it is not, Its a guitar and a video game, for life is good, and that is our reward. And I return, and I gather the family around, and we unbox it, The box is huge (seriously, they shipped it in a box big enough to hold a 55" tv at least) The kids are in awe (the wife not so much) its like Christmas, I plug it all together, and then I say, Wait, First we feast, and then we shred. So we eat, and we drink, and the kids squabble, for that is what kids do, and the wife nagged, for that is what wife's do, And I was content. Finally the time has come, for life is good and this is our reward. The family gathers around again, I press the power button on the xbox... The region of your xbox does not match the region of the disc and it cannot be played....:horrified |

Though I have been ordered to pack it all up, send it back and get a refund. Seems someone isn't real happy that I blew $300 on something we can't use in the same week I quit my job. |

Fuuny enough I looked it into in great detail. Its an extremely difficult procedure, and I couln't make heads or tails of it. It requires taking a flash memory dump of the xbox, modifying the code, and then flashing it back to the xbox. |
