6101 2000-08-30 21:55:00 Up until recently my startup consisted of an introductory 'Dell' screen then after a brief pause to allow access into the BIOS area if required, went immediately into Windows startup routine.A few days ago it all changed. After powering up I now get a Dell address page, with a message near the bottom which says 'CMOS/GPNV checksum Bad' more about that later. After pressing <Del> as instructed I get the Dell Dimension L466 Setup pages which after right arrow through get to a 'Save Configuration Changes & exit now'dialogue box which highlights 'YES'.Press enter gets me to a 'Dell' Information Screen and on pressing enter the machine goes to normal Windows Startup routine. Now as mentioned above when reported to the 'Dell'helpdesk in Malaysia,The term'CMOS/GPNV Checksum bad' convinced them my Motherboard needed replacing. This they did yesterday and the first two startups worked as before.Later startups however have reverted to the procedure above. Can anyone help me get back hiding the BIOS screens unless required? Please don't tell me I've been hacked. Thanks
