| 6150 | 2000-09-02 00:55:00 | I am trying to network a Win98 IBM Aptiva with a Win95 GreenPC pentium100 in order to share a printer, but I can't get the GreenPC to log onto the network. The Aptiva has an on-board NIC, 100baseT. The Aptiva can see the network and can 'see itself' on the network. I have installed a Dick Smith PCI 100baseT adapter in the GreenPC and connected the two PCs using the appropriate cable also from Dick Smith. On the GreenPC, Device Manager tells me the NIC is working properly, though it does say that both it and the 'Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller' are both using IRQ11. No other IRQs are free. In Control Panel>Networks I have selected 'Client for Microsoft Networks' as the primary logon. However when I start Windows the logon dialogue does not appear so I cannot log on to the network. When I click Network Neighbourhood>Entire Network I get an error message 'Unable to browse the network. The network is not available '. I have re-installed Win95 in case any networking files were corrupt but this had no effect. Any suggestions please?? |
