6191 2000-09-04 08:25:00 Hi, I recently sold a 4 month old Celeron 500 CPU. The new owner purchased this primarily for AutoCAD which works. For some reason 3D games will no longer run including HalfLife and Need For Speed 5. I had HL running on the CPU myself. My understanding of a CPU is that either they work or they don't work. The game will start but texture fills will be missing or the ganme will hang after a while. The OS does not hang because a ctrl-alt-delete will allow him to shut the game down. He is running Win95&NT4, 192Mb RAM, an old ISA TNT2 graphics card, and the new Celeron 500 on a slot 1 Motherboard (not sure about make). I would suspect the 3D card is playing up after being removed and re-inserted. Can you let me know if the CPU could be at fault. thanks, Paul Guest (0)
