| 6263 | 2000-09-09 05:59:00 | I would appreciate some help with a Compaq 466, Win 95, 32 mb ram, compressed drive (2mb free on host H:, 75mb free on C:), running on a peer to peer network. It goes thru memory check & then just beeps and hangs. I can boot with a floppy and it seems the compressed drive is mounted. I can see and browse both H: and C: drives but can?t get Windows to run. Get error message ?can?t find Himem.sys?. The file is there in the windows directory, thought maybe it was corrupt or something so copied a fresh file and tried again - no luck, same error message. I have run scandisk thru both host & C drives, including a physical check and checked for a virus ? no problems found. I can load the driver for CD drive, so thought maybe I?d just reload Windows, but I can?t even do that. I get the error message ?Windows setup requires largest executable program size to be at least 429056 bytes to run?. Any suggestions as to what?s wrong and how to fix things. Thanks Tricia |
