After tens of hours and no real theoretical prior knowledge I've designed my own data form in Access, spaced and dimensioned and labelled all the fields etc and want certain fields to add up the numerical value entered in others. I seem to come up against a brick wall, the help menu is completely confusing to me, I've accessed the 'field properties'[in design view] by selecting & right clicking for properties etc but confused by lots of options or terms I don't fully understand, I've also got directly into the expression builder which displayed all my field names etc but despite entering (correct ?) info here it won't do the simple sum of adding the contents of 2 fields and putting the result into another. My knowledge of Access is not high as I purchased the software 2nd-hand with no in depth manuals and I can't afford to attend an expensive fully blown Access course when all I need to know is how to make it get up and talk sums to me. No friends locally can help, they suggest the usual which I've been there done that without desired result. What have I done wrong or whatever, PLEASE HELP ME with an in depth blow by blow of how to achieve such a 'simple task' or point me in the right direction as to where I can obtain written in depth instructions |
