| 6519 | 2000-09-29 01:27:00 | OK, a friend is currently having problems with her DNS. Logging on to IRC, a whois returns an IP of 203.87.89.* and a DNS of bbay*.sci.net.au, however performing a DNS on bbay*.sci.net.au returns a revers DNS of 203.57.243.*. After scanning both addresses, and viewing firewall logs, we have determined that both IP address are in fact her computer, and a tracer to either address returns an identical route, except for the final destination. Her ISP has no ideas as to what is happening, and the forward DNS and reverse DNS mismatch mean that she is no longer able to use IRC as they believe she is spoofing. Any ideas at all? |
