| 6512 | 2000-09-28 05:00:00 | I have a Sony DDU220E DVD-Rom Drive and a Sony CRX145E CD-RW Drive. At some point, (and I can't rmeber when) these drives ceased showing themselves in My Computer.(or anywhere else in my computer). The eject button still works and the drives have power but thats all. I have found that if I leave a CD in one of the drives before booting, they are mysteriously avaliable to me but if I forget to put a CD in, again they dissapear. Any ideas? I have run Nortons and checked for viruses. I have a DELL Dimension XPSR400 (PII 400) which runs on a 440BX M/B Both drives are on the secondary IDE channel. Incidently, (when I forget to put a CD in a drive, Secondary IDE controller shows up as not working in Device Manager) |
