1267233 2012-03-28 09:31:00 Just passed my old computer to my nephew who used it to play games.

Core 2 duo 3.0Ghz
Gigabyte 8600GT
8 Gb Ram

He is having problems with Battlefield 3 complaining of "lagging".

Does anyone know of conflicting problems with Vista 64bit with games? Or could it be the video card? I vaguely remembered gamers complaining of Vista 64bit not supporting some games. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Show him either of these sites,www.systemrequirementslab.com or www.game-debate.com and tell him not to have unrealistic expectations of the hardware.

1267237 2012-03-28 20:18:00 Educate him on the difference between Lag (latency) and low frame rates. This one bugs me, although the effect can look similar one is caused by your internet connection and one is hardware struggling to maintain playable frame rates. I play online a lot and get sick of people complaining about Lag when they have their graphics settings set too high - it just confuses the issue.

Anyway, rant over, all he can really do is set the graphics settings lower if possible and live with it not looking as nice. If it's already set low tell him to start saving for a new graphics card.
