2012-03-27 07:06:00 | Don't know how I did it but while trying to format and resize an old disk using Win 7 Disk Management I have my main 1TB drive showing Unallocated!!!! However, the system is still working but I am scared to do much, of course . The top half of the management screen still shows the three partitions as normal . To save a big restore op, is there a way of undoing the damage?

2012-03-27 07:26:00 | I don't want to do any disk writing on the main m/c so can't get screenshot. I am writing this on another m/c. The disk had (has?) 3 partitions. C: 50GB, D: 30GB and F: 844GB. The lower half of the screen shows the whole volume (935.5 GB) as Unallocated. Strange that the system is running as normal so all is still in place but I am scared to do much!! Wonder if pulling the plug out will stop the action from being completed?

2012-03-27 07:32:00 | Yes, bit strange it seeming to let me destroy the boot disk. But it hasn't done it (yet!) just shows Unallocated. | linw (53) | |
2012-03-27 07:40:00 | Ah, now I know why the system is still working. It was my backup USB drive that was trashed. The main volume was scrolled out of sight and I didn't notice that I was looking at the wrong drive. Whew. Oh, well, better get my backups going again!! Sorry for the alarums.

2012-03-27 09:53:00 | I wasn't aware that Windows had the ability to modify partitions aside from creating or deleting them. I have always used 3rd party tools but even then you can't always be guaranteed things won't screw up.
