Apple recall of old Nano Ipods - possible faulty battery FREE replacement, and its 5 years old. Fiery-iPods-Apple-recalls-5-year-old-player (www.stuff.co.nz)

Wait for the apple fan club -- good service as you would expect bla bla -- But this time I have to admit its true.

If anyone has a Ipod of this vintage -- check it out, you may get a brand new one for free -- Nice Xmas gift.

No one will know until a few months have passed. Why be so negative.

I was going more for the jaded cynic.

And until corrected I just assumed everyone treats mp3 players as disposable devices. I have 5 or 6 of them, they have made their way to the junk draw.

1243589 2011-11-15 07:46:00 I followed this up, and got ushered through the replacement process up to the final point where I had corrected my outdated address, phone number etc, then the web page stalled. I tried re-entering my details several times and it always stalled at the same point. Gave up with FF and tried IE, and it went straight through. Got an acknowledgement from the rotten core of Apple, telling me "Apple will send you a box with shipping instructions to mail your iPod nano to us. Apple will then send you a replacement iPod." All apparently hunky dory. Then today I received an email from Apple that told me about the replacement iPod programme, and that I may be eligible, and please to start from the beginning... I suspect the latter email came based upon my registration of the Nano when I bought it, but it seems to be a case of the right hand being separate from the left hand. I will await developments.

I wonder why Apple favours IE over FF. I bet Safari would have worked first time... I also wonder whether I will get my own Nano back, but with a new battery in it? I have a copy of the Serial number so I can check!

There's probably a flotilla of lawyers headed your way - Apple hates copying.

Then you think they would do something about Lion being the most pirated OS in the world.
