1243292 2011-11-13 02:42:00 Maybe the Christchurch Bureaucrats and Maritime New Zealand might find this link inspirational and get on with the job?

1243294 2011-11-13 03:09:00 Bit different here Japs had practice rebuilding stuff after we flattened their cities with bomber raids. prefect (6291)
1243295 2011-11-13 03:52:00 What on earth did they do with all the debris? Do they have a detritus-eating godzilla hidden away somewhere? :0 Catweazle (2535)
1243296 2011-11-13 04:03:00 They also have a tonne of man + machine power. Its also a bit easier, bulldoze whats left and scrap the rubbish. ChCh is much different since a
lot of structural damage had to be assessed then a course of action decided.

With Japan it was most likely A: Fine B: A bit wet D: Gone

1243297 2011-11-13 04:34:00 Added to which Japan did not sit down and read all B.M.'s posts and I suspect those salvaging the Rena and those looking after ChCh did not either. Snorkbox (15764)
1243298 2011-11-13 05:03:00 Perhaps if they had done so, they would have got a quicker result.

You must remember BM leaned on a council shovel for a year ot two, so he knows what he is on about.

1243300 2011-11-13 18:41:00 Yeah right.

Japan's earthquake and Tsunami killed about 20,000 people and displaced about 400,000.

Christchurch’s Earthquake killed 182 and their total population is less than those displaced in Japan.

If it had been the other way around we’d still be burying our dead and OSH would still be searching their manual looking for a safe way to remove ships from roof tops.

And, Maritime NZ would have held lengthy meetings with a dozen “On Scene Commanders” and decided the ships were no longer in a designated waterway, so they could pass the buck.

I'm afraid in NZ Procrastinators and Hand Wringers rule and that needs to change. ;)

1243301 2011-11-15 06:13:00 NZ couldn't repair a ripped paper bag without endless meetings, appointments of useless bodies and bloated amounts spent on advisers and other con artists and years of farting around discussing it. pctek (84)
