I 'know' that from walking around on black ice in Invercargill...

1243243 2011-11-12 22:55:00 It is good to see that our smart young minds are putting their talents to use answering such vexing questions as "Do men like to look at boobs?" and other things that will change our world. MrRSoul (16583)

1243245 2011-11-12 23:59:00 A few years back, in Invercargill, I had an adult paper run which I did on a motor scooter. One morning we had a real heavy frost. After coming off my motor scooter twice I finally decided that it was safer to walk. I could safely walk on the grass verge but it was real slippery crossing over peoples driveways. I was often on my hands and knees. At about 6:30 am I was still struggling to keep on my feet when this young fellow comes walking down the footpath no problem at all. I have often wandered why his feet had a good grip and mine were sliding out from under me. Maybe he was wearing socks on the outside of his shoes.

Someone suggested that I buy a pair of golfing shoes so I went out and bought a pair. I never experienced another frost like that again so the golfing shoes were never tested. Maybe the universities need to waste money testing golf shoes on ice so that I know if they work or not.

1243246 2011-11-13 00:12:00 Do you think our learned friends could come up with a definitive answer to the question that has vexed many through the ages:

Is it drier to walk in a shower of rain, or run? Given that the rain is constant, and vertical (i.e. not the Wellington-style horizontal variety).

How does this forum argue? No Google links, passing off or otherwise plagiarising please :D:

1243247 2011-11-13 00:27:00 If you run you will surely be in the rain for a shorter time? KarameaDave (15222)

Mythbusters tested that years ago...

You must then expose your head and front to more raindrops?

And? (Mythbusters is not always right)
