1242986 2011-11-14 23:45:00 If you own the asset outright you can do as you like with it. Give it away, no problem.

One person’s loss is another person’s gain. :)

But when you start selling other peoples property, the rules change. ;)

That is simply not the way to look at it.

The goverment are the managers of our assets and so they sell when dosh needed and who knows, buy back in good times.

1242987 2011-11-14 23:46:00 Dead right Ian.

God we’ve had some disastrous leadership.

Talk about how to turn a fortune into a small fortune.

Muldoon, Douglas, Prebble, Shipley, Williamson, Clarke, Cullen, English, Key - fill in the spaces at your leisure.

All on an “Ego Trip” and not a “Statesman” amongst them.

Which raises the question, “Who was the last True Statesman who led this country for the Countries Good, not for his Own Good”? :confused:Thomas Jefferson.

Disagree Cicero.

Just imagine if the Manager/CEO of any trading company organised the sale of the company without consulting the shareholders.

As an example, the Management of Dominion Breweries get an offer from Lion Breweries which suits them personally. Do they just accept on behalf of the Shareholders? I don’t think so.

In the case of this Countries Assets, you and I are shareholders along with everybody else and I don’t wish to sell my shares and certainly don’t wish Key to sell them on my behalf without asking.

1242989 2011-11-15 00:47:00 Thomas Jefferson.

 Jefferson aye, a New Zealand Statesman?

Well I’ll be.

Actually I thought he’d died before NZ had any Politicians, let alone ever having been one.

Which is all very well if you have pockets of cash to improve your company.

No flys on you BM, I thought I might have got away with that one.

Well the reason we haven’t got pockets of cash is poor fiscal management going back to the Muldoon era.

And look at the money we’ve blown from previous sales. :crying

1242993 2011-11-15 04:20:00 The TRUTH behind the asset sales is...You get a free Knighthood with every sale/purchase!!! CUR Micheal Fay next Cur Roger Douglas etc etc That' why we HAVE to sell Our stuff,we are running out of people to Knight...pretty simple really.

If we can't pay for schools, hospitals etc from our taxes, then theres something VERY wrong with the way OUR taxes are being spent!

Don't sell my share please,I want my daughter to have it...

1242994 2011-11-15 05:41:00 Instead of increasing tax, they can sell an asset, granted they have given them away in the past, but that is the mug in charge of selling it, no reason you shouldn't get the market price.

What I wonder, do you think they will do with the dosh, go on a holiday and spend up large, no, it is buying what taxes are not enough to pay for and so on.

Your daughter can marry a rich bloke and he can buy her a nice asset.

1242995 2011-11-15 07:12:00 What I don't get is why our supposedly esteemed finance minister didn't see the NZ downgrade coming (his own words). WTF was he doing then that's what he is paid to do look after the countries finances, see these things coming and do something about them. But no did he see it coming of course not he had his head too far up JK for that gary67 (56)
