1242678 2011-11-15 02:44:00 As someone pointed out above Mitsubishi make two different ranges. One is made and sold by Mitsubishi Electric, and the other by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. One is supposedly better than the other. You will have to find out which, as I cannot help you.

We have two Daikin, and I cannot fault these. Heatpumps is all Daikin makes.

1242681 2011-11-15 22:45:00 Been thinking of getting a heat pump - well insulated 2 story house - only ever use a 2 KW convection heater in lounge and timed under-floor heating in downstairs bathroom - and very very ocassionally, another 2 kw heather in hall to trickle heat upstairs in very cold spells - live in Hamilton. Heating only gets used May to Sept anf highest bill $350/month - lowest is $110/month so $240 for 2 months, and $150 for 3 months = $930 for heating - that's like about 8 years to pay back/
We like it warm so would rarely need in summer. Can't see how I can justify it?

1242682 2011-11-15 23:43:00 Maybe OP won't be fortunate enough to get the industrial model ... me thinks. It might just be the domestic Mitsi.

Re: HPs. For us, other than the cheaper power bills. For us our lounge has a highesh ceiling. The HP just warms up faster and distributes the heat better and we can move around the room.

Financially a $4,000 HP that includes installation (say) - does one save back $4,000 of power bills in the 5yrs - maybe not. To us it is more a lifestyle thing. For us we might save $500 per year. And remember there is a government discount for the first HP in the lounge.

This is compared to a single 2kw oil fin heater or two of them. Also you don't have a standalone unit on the floor. It is generally upper wall mounted, or mounted by the wall (wall units) or ceiling mounted like commercial offices.
