| 1266859 | 2012-03-27 20:11:00 | Theres nothing wrong with Spybot - its still a very good antimalware program. Malware bytes is not all as good as many think either :groan:- There have been countless times I've run Malwarebytes through PC's and its found infections, then run Spybot, Super antispyware and they both find more that others have missed. NO one antimalware program will get everything, you have to run several. Theres actually one other I've been looking at lately as well, its by Emsisoft (www.emsisoft.com) I have run that through infected computers and it finds items that all the others have missed, but then it also misses some the other do detect. The in depth scans take a long time, longer than the others, but it also looks in places the others dont. Many people think its a quick job to clean out a PC, often its not, its not uncommon to spend all day or longer doing scans. MSSE is OK for a free one, but that also isn't anywhere near as good as other antivirus software. Edited: Many of the false positives , you will find are on name brand PC's. PC makers like HP, install a lot of junk software, and it "phones home" or collects information about the PC being used and sends back to HP - this is exactly what Malware does, collects information and sends it back without the user knowing -- See the similarity ;) |
