1242770 2011-11-10 19:03:00 Dad has this but a black color - dicksmith.co.nz

He bought it last Xmas, when DSE had a free $150 credit to the phone of your choice if you bought a $150 prepay top up ... at the time the phone was $160 so he paid like $10 :D And he wants to see if they have a similar deal this Xmas!

And, he doesn't know how to text or write emails or use a computer ..... good clear big buttons and clear screen which you can increase font size or use orange highlight over words .....
It's 3G has a small browser but not that smartphone - ing.

You can look at the cheap $50 phones in person I suggest, they are just not that clear to read - both in clarity and size. It can also be a bit faint too.....

1242771 2011-11-10 19:27:00 I would say you should go for an iPhone because it has innumerable features that you would not find in any other phone. As far as the price is concerned, if you go for the iPhone deals not only do you get discounts but also many offers. Select the deal hat best suits your needs. For more info visit

Hence why I removed the link from the quote ;)

1242774 2011-11-11 01:58:00 All my cheap Nokias have had a min 7-8 days of standby because they have no power draining features, apart from the screen and searching for signal and at least 2 hours of talk time gary67 (56)
1242775 2011-11-11 06:53:00 depends on usage, mum's cheap color phone - maybe a 5 days without talking. the b/w nokia's i know can last a week. if you leave it off maybe 3 week until it goes really flat.

my modern Nokia color smartphone only last maybe 2 days with some talking or web surfing ... generally for me only a day.

my biggest gripe the v cheap phones is that the LCD can be faint to read. even if you want just talk and text. function wise, a old b/w Nokia may be better for that at least the screen is easier to read like a Nokia 6210 or a 6310 that is a 10yr old phone. dad bought one as well when he lost his other one on TM but now he has his LG that I linked to. that phone screen is quite good - clarity similar to my Nokia E75 that had a retail price of $899 2 or 3yr ago. until I lost it! ps - the diagram does not show but .. it is not a touch screen phone - the keypads are visible when you slide it down. www.gsmarena.com
