| 1267404 | 2012-03-29 18:14:00 | My friend at uni has been offered this antivirus for free.All the IT crew there recommend it but I'm a little unsure about it. It looks complicated to install as there is a 3 page instruction manual. I would prefer putting MSE on it.What do you guys think? Thanks |

Take a look at the pricing structures Example (www.sophos.com) I was looking at it a long time ago, but cant justify the number of user licenses. |

| 1267408 | 2012-04-01 06:25:00 | Sophos is awesome but yea not for single home use. I manage it for my work/clients and use it at home. It downloads all the policies, updates etc from whatever is set on the enterprise console wherever it's managed from, not too many options are generally left open to the end user. +1 to nod32 for home use |

| 1267409 | 2012-04-01 07:39:00 | If sophos is anything like symanctec enterprise protection it can run in a server client situation or as a stand alone using the web for updates. I think (not 100% on this) some uni's had licensing agreements where they would pay for it for their PC's and students got the software for free. It's fine, i'd run with it. | Alex B (15479) | ||

Otago University provides Sophos to students free and I'm currently wondering if I need to install it on my daughters pc. I put MSSE on to start with and Sophos needs to be better. Maybe using the university server makes Sophos more useful. Any thoughts? Incidentally the Otago server won't allow MS updates or online validation of MS programs (such as Office). Furthermore it won't allow Windows Live Mail or outlook Express either! Apparently students live with having their mail only available remotely. |

He's bringing it round this weekend so there will be a ton of updates to do as well . we'll find out after Easter if Sophos plays nice . |
