2012-03-28 09:18:00 | Looking for a web hosting solution if possible based in Christchurch but anywhere in NZ ok. Want to use SmarterStats to analyze the data generated by site users. Does anyone on PressF1 know of any host provider that fulfills these requirements?

2012-03-28 09:55:00 | Thanks Chill, the requirement I am trying to fulfill is the ability to choose any .jpg or logo on the site and be able to count the number of hits over a specific but changeable time period for each client, ie, from one date to another, I know SmarterStats can do that. | zqwerty (97) | |

2012-03-28 20:08:00 | Yeah HD or OpenHost then :-) To be honest the difference between hosting in Auckland vs Christchurch is probably only likely to be 5-10ms...

2012-03-28 22:32:00 | I use Google Analytics (GA) and Webmaster tools and analyse competing domains and site backlinks with seo tools from seoMoz. (www.seomoz.org). Smartertools seems to have a nice interface. GA however does not seem to have image tracking referals as a default, but can easily create a advanced segment script to do so. Keywords entry points and page entry I have found are important metrics for site analytics. Often found queries/keywords that I never heard/thought off, then build contact around them to target future visitors. | kahawai chaser (3545) | |
2012-03-29 04:33:00 | Most web hosts seem to use AWStats which does not seem able to do what I want, looking at downloading a free copy of SmarterStats and getting backup copy from our present web host and running the last two years stats on our own dedicated computer. What a hassle!!!!!!!!! | zqwerty (97) | |
2012-03-29 05:08:00 | Analytics are only part of it though, important for tracking ranking/visibility, visitor/source segments, page flows, conversion rate goals, keyword queries, popular landing pages, etc. But you also want to do...well analyse your online competitors, namely checking what backlinks help to rank them, what methods they use for outreach (e.g. videos, social media, content marketing, ad platforms, etc) and then trying to get those baclinks from those sites. Many SEO's export csv's of their keyword in excel, and then match against search volumes/and competitors to see if worthwhile still chasing or target. Otherwise try what's called longtails (www.searchengineguide.com) - or subsets of the main keywords if too difficult. Better and faster way of ranking - though less visitors - but targeted. What metrics are you looking for? Then you may need to know what your site's/business main keywords that you are trying to rank for.
