The principle difference I think is Virus's (Virii? ) are designed to self replicate and spread whereas malware generally needs human assistance to install - even if it's just clicking a link. If I wrote a batch file called clickmeplease.bat that executed delete c:\*.* that would be malware. If I was smarter and wrote code to detect any inserted or networked drives and write a copy of itself onto them, that would be a virus. |
