| 1243385 | 2011-11-14 01:57:00 | If Auckland want an inner-city rail loop, let them pay for it. Your so-called 'Holiday Highway' is actually SH1, and the main road into and out of Northland. This seriously needs upgrading well before Len Brown's train set. The only reason Labour christened it HH is because they have no seats up here, and nor are they likely to get any. It is just another indication of their derogatory naming of things, stemming from their politics of envy. The time will come when this road will be 4-laned to Whangarei and in future years to the Bay of Islands. | Richard (739) | ||

Individually probably nice people but as a group with intentions of ruling us..... poof..... | Scouse (83) | ||

That money could be better used elsewhere, such as, oh I don't know, converting Britomart into a through station and eliminate the Western Line's dogleg via Newmarket. I've travelled on that road fairly recently and it doesn't need to be a motorway IMO. The other thing is National are still using disproved methods from the 1950s to calculate benefits while the council brought in international experts. Although funny that negative benefits still didn't stop them going on with the holiday highway  And Auckland will be paying for half of it... |

Like long weekends and Xmas breaks? Lots of very unnecessary accidents and deaths on that road for years. Much like SH27 from Pokeno through to Maramarua (which is still a balls-up of a fix). Oh - and I think that highway was built/fixed when Fool Goof was licking Helen's jackboots too.... A trainset wouldn't have fixed that stretch of road either... |
