6694 2000-10-13 06:24:00 When my son tries to run DOS-based games, the screen goes blank and a coloured box with the words 'Signal out of range' flashes on the screen. What is this? What can I do about it? Guest (0)
6695 2005-03-23 20:25:00 After signing on to AOL my monitor goes black and then the flashing red/green/white window starts flashing. I have to shut down the computer.
This does not happen all the time. Maddening. Any help please
Thanks

6696 2005-03-23 20:54:00 We don't have any experience with AOL in New Zealand. Do you have to instal any special software to use this ISP? Seems like some conflict is crashing your video card. PaulD (232)

What O/S is on the PC? Win XP??
Signal out of range just means its lost the video card.
Its sounds like it the game tries to display using something the card doesn't like so it loses it.
Some DOS games will work, others won't. If there is any config files for the game, try to adjust the display settings from it.

6700 2005-03-24 00:17:00 Cause someone else found it when searching for a solution to their own problem and replied to it, thus bumping the original post back to the future from the year 2000 .... Biggles (121)
6701 2005-03-24 00:18:00 Because people are finding the forum through search engines. Gladeslady revived the thread looking for an answer to her AOL problem. Perhaps there needs to be some means of locking threads older than a few months. PaulD (232)
6702 2005-03-24 00:20:00 We used to have a notice that advised you that the thread was more than a month old on the old system, but we lost that with the transition. I think there is a system in Vbulletin to lock old posts, but for the handful of times this happens it hasn't seemed all that necessary. Biggles (121)
6703 2005-03-24 01:12:00 I don't think it is good to lock posts ... It's nice to have a blast from the past :) KiwiTT_NZ (233)
