| 6947 | 2000-11-03 22:43:00 | I have been fiddling aroung with my internet files, checking what I can delete regularly, and when I dropped to dos to get the dos pathnames for the directories I could clear, I noticed two files, index.dat and desktop.ini in my \content.IE5 directory. Desktop.ini contains what looks to be a registry key under the heading [.ShellClassInfo] and Index.dat contains a very large listing of internet addresses. Now, I would like to know what these files are for, and also what the index.dat file in the cookies directory that I can never delete is. Is it safe to delete these files? What are they doing?
