I fell for it and installed 'Windows ME'. Went looking for 'Backup', could not find it under 'System Tools' so tried installing it from
'Accessories' in 'Add new programmes'. It was not there. Called MS/NZ who told me to use this same method. That not work, then they told me to open the CD and run it from 'MS Addons'. Got part way through, and it crashed because it could not find a file. Tried several times, but no luck. MS Technical Support asked me to leave the matter with them, but have not heard from them again. Methinks the Techs at MS/NZ know very little about the products they are trying to support. Have read 2 magazines covering ME, neither of them mention 'Backup' at all. Have a CD entitled 'Windows ME Companion' which covers every (?) aspect of ME, but neither does it even mention 'Backup' or tape drives, which is what I am trying to install. From where I sit it seems that this is another 'con' by MS, and 'Backup' just does not exist in ME! I think I should scrub ME and return to Win '98. Your comments would be appreciated. |
