"We the New Zealand consumers (and the buyers) bought Chinese stuff when it started coming in, despite please from Buy NZ and the unions and Jim Anderton etc to buy NZ Made" So now we have very few factories left. Awesome. right, so they declined due to my ACC history Then the father-in-law waded in ( he works at the company), applied some pressure, pulled in some favours and they reversed their position. so, Its a 6am start, a 6.30pm finish, and don't expect a lunch break, they eat on the run. Wait...what? Hard work, minimum wage, 12 hour days, no breaks? uh.........no. I wouldn't last a day. So, I lied, via txt, as to why I wouldn't be able to make my start. You just won the "maximum hogwash effect while using minimum words" award. Metla is dead right. Higher education teaches you to think; you learn to understand and also to write intelligible english, you can express yourself verbally, and can communicate effectively. Arts degrees do not just produce artists, they produce thinkers and 'doers'. Higher (or any formal) education trains your mind, and regardless of what you then do with the certificate or degree you earned, you are a far more useful and versatile member of the workforce. The introduction of education for the masses freed humans from servility (go look it up) and I challenge you to produce a cogent argument to the contrary. Don't hurry, I'll wait.
