1243934 2011-11-17 19:18:00 And the war against ignorance continues.

I suggest a BA for a start.

Which would all be well, if common sense went with it.

1243936 2011-11-17 19:42:00 The Bachelor of Arts (BA) equips students with a number of important life skills. These include an ability to communicate clearly, an ability to think critically and creatively, an ability to solve problems across a wide range of domains, and general leadership abilities.

What makes the Victoria Bachelor of Arts degree distinctive is its strong emphasis on the humanities, creative arts, languages and social sciences, its flexible structure, and its broad range of opportunities for exploring a variety of disciplines.

The humanities include subjects where we explore what it means to be human; for example, languages, History, English Literature, Media Studies, Film, Theatre and Music. Social sciences include subjects where we explore how humans interact with each other, such as Cultural Anthropology, Criminology and Sociology.

Looks good to me, Its not going to give you a career on its own but it was never intended for that, and who can turn there nose up at a good education?

 Congratulations Metla.

That’s the biggest load of hogwash you’ve ever written.

Well done.

But at least now I can see who would turn there nose up at a good education, it would probably just get in the way of knowing everything.

NZ doesnt make anything in significant amounts. Period .

Thats why there are no jobs. Just churning the same local $$ wont make jobs.
Govt funded jobs & govt projects are short term only, funded by borrowing. They dont make true growth. Will be less jobs when we have to actually pay those $$ back. And we do have to pay those $$ back. Expect some real pain.

Jobs based on Tourism are low paid, bottom of the ladder sort of stuff.
NZ is not a 1st world Economy. We have been near bottom of the OECD for as long as I can remember (at least 30+ years)
Its time we stopped expecting 1st world wages & 1st world govt infrastructure & welfare.
Look at wages in lower paid asian countries. Thats who we are competing against, realistically thats the level our wages are heading towards.

1243940 2011-11-17 22:05:00 Do secondary schools still teach boys woodwork and metal work ?

I am not sure, but I do know that some boys are academic and others are more practical.

But I still dont think there are enough josb out there over all.

But every western country has this problem.

"How to create more job ?'

And remember when National called that Jobs summit for 2 days. They invited leaders of industry, unions, academics etc etc and had all those workshops.

And after 2 days they basically came up with a few slogans.

So if all of those experts had no idea.....
