1244037 2011-11-17 08:39:00 We have two landlines :p

One is for the business, which gets used very often, and the other is for personal calls which also gets a lot of use (and ADSL).

1244038 2011-11-17 08:49:00 I have a landline with adsl and a cell phone. I hardly ever use the landline to make calls but it is handy to have it. I usually communicate by email. Bobh (5192)
1244039 2011-11-17 13:52:00 TelstraClear cable plus VoIP.

Naked DSL isn't the only way of getting internet without a landline...

1244040 2011-11-17 17:46:00 I love my landline. It IS cheaper.
Yes the younger ones have cellphones, but I can't say I notice people making calls - they all txt. I txt, but there's a limit to how much of a conversation you can have on that.....

1244044 2011-11-17 21:14:00 Yeah I was probably meaning "optional phoneline" that - there is nDSL which is approx $20/mo on top of your BB plan. Telstra cable is one of the option at least the more expensive plans that allows you to just pay the BB and not a cent for a phoneline.

And I guess a few people may just use 3G internet as their main connection ......

For us having a standard phoneline - VOIP does not eat into our data. Some of people are not that computer literate and we didn't have to upgrade our phones or at least get a converter thingy for the couple of standard phones that we have. We cannot get Telstra cable, and with nDSL we need to pay ~ $20/mo anyway.

1244045 2011-11-17 21:36:00 I have a landline because I am a luddite and I think I need it to host my website on.

And I am in the country and get bad mobile reception.

1244046 2011-11-17 22:22:00 Our old normal landline phone is now plugged directly into the Xnet router, no adapters or anything and the phone usage does not affect our BB data cap. So no we don't have a landline for the phone but can still use the phones we have gary67 (56)
